first this movie is all over the place as a social commentary. which is what the makers tried to sell this movie as.. Joker was simply the vehicle for it. in this endeavour the movie fails big time.

most people who become random mass shooters are not from the lowest strata of society, who are denied support from the system. If this were true, you would be afraid to walk on the streets

most radicalization happens on political angles. I just do not understand this backstory, without sufficient emphasis on the fact that Joker is already gone by the time we see him in the movie..

there are ofcourse scenes that point to this, especially his delusions about a gf etc, but then the director makes it about social conditions by the end of the movie.

everything joker says is true, but the only thing false about this is, people like Joker suffer in the system forever never becoming violent. those that do become violent are the ones with means and some social standing.. not nobodies like joker. that they are allowed to show Joker on screen like this is scary..

this is technically not his backstory. Joker makes too much sense. He's supposed to be mad.
