Footage taken by professional storm chaser Charles Peek shows cars on the Texas side of Stateline Road in Texarkana dealing with icy driving conditions while those on the Arkansas side drive on a cleared roadway. More than 3million people in Texas are still without power in subzero temperatures for the fourth day in a row, according to data - and for the vast majority, it is because of forced blackouts by energy agency ERCOT. Texas has buckled so much so that Beto O'Rourke said on Wednesday that it was a near 'failed state'. Every other state in the storm's path has been able to withstand it because they operate on a shared power source which means that if one state's supply goes down, it can draw from the shared reserve. Now Texans want to know why they weren't properly prepared, especially after a similar storm in 2011. Gov. Abbott (inset) on Wednesday told the state's natural gas producers to sell the fuel to in-state power generators.

Snowstorm brings lot of misery , especially in Texas Because no one is prepared for this weather .

Houses have weak insulation , water pipes are not meant for sub zero usage , I know multiple people whose pipes have burst and made their house a mess . 

Lot of people rely on electricity for cooking , what are they going to eat ? 

The municipalities Don't have enough equipment to clear out the snow .Many people are unable to go out and buy essential stuff because roads are unusable .

This doesn't happen in case of a storm , once the weather system has passed but snow persists for few days

Similar experiences we had during Sandy bro - lot many big buildings in both Nj/NY were filled up with water and lot of us had issues with Power outage & dependency on power for cooking. 
 

Agreed on equipment/not prepared in Texas - NJ/NY were so much equipped & prepared. Aa time lo verey states nunchi kuda rent chesukunnaaru immediate ga.

Main problem is Texas did not integrate itself with national grid since it prefers less regulations . 

End result was a lax system that was not prepared for such disaster

TX power grid is not connected to rest of the country power grid, so they are completely dependent on power generated within the state. ee storm valla aa power generation lo konni chotla fail ayyindhi so they are not able to produce enough power for the state so phase wise konni places ki power ivvagligaaru. Midwest and northeast use gas for home heating south uses electricity so electricity down aithey inka life will come to standstill that is not the case with midwest and north east.
