Power Grid corporation and all those regional transmission companies, holy cow.massive companies but look at the meager money it makes. Literally pennies...

Govt can get billion of rupees by selling these companies. Let private companies run these utility and transmission companies..

Well, Govt will still get its cash from oil sale.

51% stake sale will fetch them few billions and on top of it, generous 30-40% tax on fuel sale at retail and might get away with subsidies completely. Win win situation for the government.

Nah , ONGC is subsidising the government by a huge amount . . If they lose ONGC they will need to raise tax like crazy from other sources .

Also energy security isnour core princippe , they will not let go of this simply because when the Arabs turn off our oil , ONGC is our safety valve not reliance or other private companies

Privitasation will look after minimum jobs maximum profit.

Government sector maximum jobs and sustainable growth..

Imagine if these private sectors bankrupt like anil ambani while selling stakes to chinese banks....india will truly "sold to china "

can you name one govt company that has been sustainable and also explain why Air India is not sustainable in spite of govt pumping billions

In 1980's , 1990's almost all major parties and leaders in north india were against any form of computerisation because it made huge number of jobs redundant .

Only a few south indian leaders accepted computers openly like chandrababu naidu , sm krishna , Dravidian leaders,  few other congress leaders    from south .

After 30 years , private IT sector pays more salaries than all government jobs in india and south india as a whole is much more prosperous .

Privitisation with good standards is the only way forward to prosperity .

For 50 years india was left backwards by the socialist policies of nehru family , PV Narasimha Rao freed us from the tyranny of license Raj

Most people are still romanticizing failed socialist model .I agree that few stretegic sectors should be kept aside but lot of other sectors need to be privitized and regulated well .

Fda investments is totally different than privatizing government asssetss..sFun_duh2

If we allow foreign investments with  40-60% ventures that is a different story.

Selling government assets and transforming the india's back bone in to hands of private holders is big risk..

Capitalist countries like usa can handle recession but india cannot..

Even during 2008 indian banks did really well surviving the global recession..it is moves like demonitiation that broke our economy
