opium is harvested from poppy seed fruit pod by scoring it with finger nail or small blade in the mornings so that it bleeds milk or sap

when that dries up to sticky substance in  evening , it is scraped off, process is repeated on all flowerpods while in bloom

usually harvesting opium leads in less yield in poppy seeds in the pod itself

andukey crop esthunnappudey register chesthaaru, crop yield ni batti next time ki allow cheyyatam alantivi untayi

they are usually able to figure out who is actually farming them for seeds vs opium

only few restricted strains of poppy plants sap has high amounts of codone and dangerous substances.
