RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina health officials said on Thursday that they stopped administering Johnson & Johnson doses at a mass vaccination site in Raleigh and at clinics in Hillsborough and Chapel Hill after at least 26 people experienced adverse reactions, including fainting.

Four people were taken to hospitals for further examination, and state and federal health officials are reviewing the matter.

EU medicines regulator launches blood clots probe related to Johnson & Johnson vaccine

It comes after four cases of serious blood clots were reported, one of them deadly.

Three of these cases were reported in the United States after authorisation of the vaccine. One case was reported during clinical trials in an unspecified country.

The European Union authorised the jab in March but the vaccine will not be delivered to EU countries until April 19.

This yuksin provides 100% protection against Covid related hospitalizations ani cheppadu vayya, NOT 100% protection against hospitalizations by vaccine itself, you need to know the difference. You need to interpret it appropriately, if not its your mistake

Georgia Cumming

Eight people who received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at the Cumming Fairgrounds on Wednesday experienced adverse reactions, prompting the Georgia Department of Public Health officials Friday to announce that they have paused distribution of the vaccine there.

One person was evaluated at a hospital and released, while the others were monitored at the site and sent home, DPH officials said in a news release. The department did not detail the kinds of reactions they had.

Georgia becomes third state to shut down Johnson & Johnson vaccine site after adverse reactions

Earlier this week, 18 people in North Carolina reported side effects, while 11 people in Colorado reacted to the shot with symptoms ranging from dizziness, nausea and fainting.

In New York City, variants comprise nearly 80% of new daily cases, with 45% homegrown. Another 30% are driven by the variant first discovered in the U.K., which is believed to be up to 70% more contagious and more lethal.

FDA, CDC recommend pausing use of Johnson & Johnson vaccine after reports of rare but severe blood clots

The health agencies released a statement Tuesday morning recommending the pause “out of an abundance of caution,” saying blood clots still seem to be “extremely rare.”

So far, the CDC and FDA are reviewing six reported cases in the U.S.

All six recipients were women between the ages of 18 and 48, with symptoms occurring 6 to 13 days after vaccination, according to the statement.

One woman died and one has been hospitalized in critical condition, the New York Times reported.
