where did you get that 300 number from? manufacturing vaccines enmasse is not that expensive.

Poonawalla told in some interview , right now the raw materials are costly due to huge demand and supply side issues

The cost will reduce eventually , is india Willing to wait a year to get cheap vaccine ?

Then its incompetence. Just a couple months back in an interview he claimed that he was barely breaking even at the price of 150 for two doses.

little Adar is either lying though his teeth about the 300 number, or he's an incompetent piece of sh1t who couldn't even recognize that he would need to manufacture way way more than the initial 200m doses.

Lite abba , serum institute is one of the beast vaccine makers in the world . They still make the cheapest well vouched covid vaccine around the world .

Govt is trying to push their incompetence as a case of corporate greed.

dude. how did poonawaala make a profit when he was selling the vaccine at 150 for two doses, and suddenly the price of manufacturing the vaccine shot up to 300 per dose - 600..

it makes zero sense. Its either poonawaala's greed or incompetence. I would bet on greed.

"We're supplying in India at approximately  150-160. The average price is around $20 (Rs 1,500)... (but) because of the Modi government's request, we are providing at subsidised rates... It is not that we're not making profits... but we are not making super profits, which is key to re-investing," he said.

so? if he was making a profit at selling for 150rs.. what's this new 800rs price point for? The mass manufacture is gonna actually work out for them in decreasing the unit cost of manufacture.

my mom got her astrazeneca vaccine for 250rs at a private clinic.. 150 for the two doses, and 100 for some admin charge.

now it is 400 per dose for stastes.

if you think this is not outright fleecing, then I have nothing to say. Its not govt incompetence. Its collusion with Poonawalla.

That 250 rs was the hospital service fee, vaccine was free of cost.

You are right center should have bargained for lower rates but they seem to be content by pushing the burden on states.  Ar 400 rs it is still the cheapest vaccine in the world.

He could make ton of money by exporting it just like he did last year , it's not vaccine maithri it's pure economics the exports were subsidising 150 rs domestic vaccine cost
