'Pakistan Stands with India': How Pakistani netizens rally together to pray for India amidst COVID-19 crisis

The Edhi Foundation sent a letter to PM Narendra Modi, asking his permission to send fully-equipped ambulances to India in order to help them fight the deadly virus.

New Delhi/Islamabad: The second wave of COVID-19 has wreaked more havoc than it was anticipated. The caseload is experiencing a record surge and the death toll has not stopped increasing as well. Along with that, the country is also witnessing an acute shortage of imperative items such as oxygen, Remdesivir, ventilators, and beds in the hospitals.

However, a tiny glimmer of hope is seen on the internet. Netizens in India are coming together from all parts to amplify those who need help in any form. Be it home-cooked food delivered at their doorsteps to helping them acquire oxygen for their loved ones, they are going out of their way to be of help.

Now, even our Pakistani neighbors have joined hands to do so.

The Edhi Foundation in Pakistan that was founded by the famous humanitarian named Abdul Sattar Edhi wrote a letter to PM Narendra Modi, stating that they want to send a fleet of 50 ambulances to assist the country in fighting the deadly virus.

"Our organization understands the gravity of the situation, and we wish to lend our full support, without any inconvenience to you. We are providing the fuel, food, and other necessary amenities that our team will require. Our teams consist of emergency medical technicians, office staff, drivers, and supporting staff," the managing trustee, Faisal Edhi, said in the letter.

While the reply is still awaited, Pakistani netizens started to trend the hashtag called 'Pakistan stands with India' where they rallied together to pray for their Indian neighbors as well as appealed to their authorities to send the necessary help to them.

They took to the microblogging site and sent love to the country.

"#PakistanstandswithIndia is the top trend in Pakistan. Goes to show that despite tensions, people on both sides of the border have immense love and concern for each other. Let the people meet, support each other, solve issues amicably. People only lose in conflict," one user added.

Actor and singer Farhan Saeed lauded this as well.

In India, the trend is gaining momentum as well. It flits between the second and third spots in the India trends list.
