Controlling the spread in theory, works well.

Like i said, we need solutions that works well in India.

80% of India, Corona can be controlled by limiting the space. But in 20% of India which is home to about 40 crores population, stopping the spread by strict measures will not yeild fruitful results. There is a whole lot of population for whom staying home is not an option, for whom more than death by corona, they are forced to step out and look for work. 
 

Corona might stay for some more time and disappear...But the after effects of Corona for economically weaker section will stay forever. It will push millions of people back to poverty. All our economic gains for decades will go down the drain fighting Corona. Long term economic effects are already visible.
