వర్జీనియా, మెరీల్యాండ్: ప్రతి రెండేళ్లకు ఒకసారి జరిగే ఉత్తర అమెరికా తెలుగు సంఘం (తానా) ఎన్నికల్లో బ్యాలెట్ల అపహరణ కలకలం సృష్టిస్తోంది. వర్జీనియా, మెరీల్యాండ్ రాష్ట్రాల్లో సుమారు 40 మంది విద్యార్థులు ఇలా బ్యాలెట్లను అపహరిస్తూ రెడ్ హ్యాండెడ్‌గా పట్టుబడ్డారు. దీంతో మెరీల్యాండ్ రాష్ట్రంలో పోలీసులు కేసు నమోదు చేశారు. ప్రస్తుతం దర్యాప్తు కొనసాగుతోంది. మెరీల్యాండ్‌లో నమోదైన కేసులులో ప్రముఖంగా నాగ్ నెల్లూరి పాత్ర ఉన్నట్లు తెలుస్తోంది. డీసీ కన్వేషన్‌లో నాగ్ నెల్లూరి ట్రేజరర్‌గా కూడా పని చేశారు. నాగ్ నెల్లూరితో పాటు మాజీ గ్రేటర్ వాషింగ్టన్ తెలుగు కల్చరల్ సంఘం మాజీ అధ్యక్షుడు మన్నే సత్యనారాయణ పాత్ర ఉన్నట్లు స్థానికులు ఆరోపిస్తున్నారు. కాగా, ఈ ఎన్నికల్లో ప్రెసిడెంట్‌గా పోటీ చేస్తున్న నరేన్ కొడాలి, మాజీ అధ్యక్షుడు సతీష్ వేమన ప్యానెల్ ఆధ్వర్యంలో ఈ బ్యాలెట్ల అపహరణ జరిగినట్లు సమాచారం. 

 

గత దశబ్దా కాలంగా తానాలో ఆధిపత్యం కనబరుస్తున్న బృందం వారి ఆధిపత్యానికి గండి పడుతుందనే ఉద్దేశంతో అమాయకులైన 40 మందికి పైగా విద్యార్థులను ఉపయోగించుకుని బ్యాలెట్లను అపహరించింది. వీరిలో ఇద్దరు మేరిల్యాండ్‌లో, ఒకరు వర్జీనియాలో రెడ్ హ్యాండెడ్‌గా దొరికారు. వర్జీనియా రాష్ట్రంలోని కమ్యూనిటీ మొత్తం పోలీసులకు ఫిర్యాదు చేయనుంది. ఫెడరల్ బెర్త్ కింద విద్యార్థులను పోలీసులు విచారించే అవకాశం ఉంది. ఒకవేళ నేరం రుజువైతే గరిష్టంగా 25 ఏళ్ల వరకు జైలు శిక్ష పడే అవకాశం ఉంది. 18us.code1708 యాక్ట్ కింద విద్యార్థులపై కేసు నమోదు చేసే అవకాశం ఉంది. దీని వల్ల అమాయకులైన విద్యార్థుల భవిష్యత్ నాశనం అవుతుందని పలువురు ఆందోళన వ్యక్తం చేస్తున్నారు. మాజీ తానా బృందం భారత్‌తో పాటు విదేశాలకు చెందిన విద్యార్థులకు డబ్బు ఆశచూపి ఇలాంటి సంఘ విద్రోహ చర్యలకు పాల్పడిందనేది ఆరోపణ.

TANA is NRI voluntary association. it does not represent even one lak telugu people maybe out of almost 15 crores Telugu origin. Its not even an official body of anything and the issue is some accusation of one election.
