I am not at all into development. I have been into InfoSec for a while. Idi varaku OIM/OAM/OID/OVD stack ki implementation/Ops. Ippudu SailPoint/Okta/PAM(CyberArk,BeyondTrust), Directory Services vaatillo FTE ki switch ayyanu. Still InfoSec but new technologies. Kaasta technology agnostic avvalani chala kaalam try cheste kaani Oracle consultant ane "stamp" lo nunchi bayataki raaleka poyanu.

Oracle still has some clients in that space but far less than what it used to be 8-10 years ago.

Bro I worked on Oracle Identity Management/Access management stuff as well in the past some 5-6 years ago. I was suggested to learn Sailpoint but same reason ki I didn't proceed. Oka tool meeda dependency unchukunte once that market is gone we are mataash plus we won't have a sustainable career path.

Oracle is a dying company bro, with more and more Cloud services being used in the future trust me Oracle ki DB meeda unna adhipatyam kooda potundi. Oracle Cloud is a failure as it is anyway. I took worked most of life on Oracle tech stack and related products.

Were you an OIM implementer or were you an OIM Admin or a MW Admin that was assigned to Oracle Security Apps like OIM? Did you consider expanding your reach within Security?

Once you can brand yourself as a Security expert - Oracle, SailPoint, Forgerock etc. is just a technology and you will retain your security expertise.

For example the company I work at - we are replacing a legacy IAM Software with SailPoint. Personally I never worked on SailPoint before this company. Kaani they hired me for my security knowledge, ability to understand how onboarding/off-boarding processes work, ability to drive adoption of SSO etc. Initially I felt my ability to implement a technology is dying and I was afraid. Kaani as days progressed I realized I have a choice to make - brand myself as security expert or a Sailpoint expert. I dont consider my self as a geeky developer and personally not doing great in implementation stuff. I can still get a job easily but I would not excel. So konnallu FTE lo strategy development, roadmap, understanding $$ implications, what C-Secs look from IAM/IGA etc. ala nerchukuntunnanu.

That is when you understand real politics in IT Life ani naa yokka idi.

Yeah sure bro. Sign up for a Data science program online.

I'll try to find out which one is the best for you.

I heard Springboard is pretty good to get into data science.

  • Thanks 1
