Twelve major opposition parties including four chief ministers have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding that the government should stop the Central Vista project and instead use the money to procure oxygen and vaccines, to fight against the coronavirus.

Claiming that the COVID-19 pandemic has turned into an "apocalyptic human tragedy" in the country, the opposition leaders, including Congress president Sonia Gandhi and some chief ministers, also demanded that the Centre provide food grains to the needy, and give Rs 6,000 per month to all unemployed people.

In their joint letter in which they made nine suggestions to the government, the leaders also demanded a repeal of the three Central farm laws which, they claimed, will help protect lakhs of 'annadatas' (food-growers) from becoming the victims of the pandemic.

A large number of farmers are sitting in protest at three borders of Delhi, seeking the farm laws passed by Parliament in September last year be scrapped.

Apart from Congress president Gandhi, the signatories include former prime minister and JDS leader HD Deve Gowda, NCP supremo Sharad Pawar, Chief Ministers Uddhav Thackeray (Shiv Sena), Mamata Banerjee (TMC), MK Stalin (DMK), and Hemant Soren (JMM). Former Chief Ministers Farooq Abdullah (NC) and Akhilesh Yadav (SP) have also signed the letter, alongside Tejashwi Yadav (RJD), D Raja (CPI) and Sitaram Yechury (CPI-M).

The leaders have said the COVID-19 pandemic has assumed unprecedented dimensions of a human catastrophe in the country. They noted that they have in the past also suggested to the government the measures they believed were "absolutely imperative" for the Centre to implement to arrest the situation.

"Unfortunately, your government has either ignored or refused all these suggestions. This only compounded the situation to reach such an apocalyptic human tragedy," they said.

Without going into all the "acts of commission and omission" by the Central government that have brought the country to such a "tragic pass", the opposition leaders demanded that the new measures suggested by them must be undertaken on a war footing.

"Procure vaccines centrally from all available sources - global and domestic. Immediately begin a free, universal mass vaccination campaign across the country. Invoke compulsory licensing to expand domestic vaccine production. Spend budgetary allocation of Rs 35,000 crores for the vaccines," the leaders said in their letter.

"Stop Central Vista construction. Use the allocated money for procuring oxygen and vaccines, instead. Release all money held in the unaccounted private trust fund, PM Cares to buy more vaccines, Oxygen and medical equipment required," they also told the prime minister.

The opposition leaders also demanded giving all jobless at least Rs 6,000 per month and a free distribution of foodgrains to the needy, saying over one crore tonnes of foodgrains are currently "rotting in central godowns".

"Repeal farm laws to protect lakhs of our annadatas becoming victims of the pandemic so that they can continue to produce food to feed the Indian people," they said.

"Though it has not been the practice of your office or government, we would appreciate a response to our suggestions in the interests of India and our people," the leaders said in the letter.

The letter comes on a day India witnessed a record rise in COVID-19 deaths with 4,205 fresh fatalities taking the overall toll to 2.54 lakh deaths, while 3.48 lakh new coronavirus infections were also reported. The total tally of COVID-19 cases in the country now stands at 2.33 crore.

If our financial data is to be believed , we have 520 Billion Dollars of Foreign Reserves.people in emergencies always dip into it for emergency imports.Yet we could not pay $ 3 Billion to buy Input Materials to make Vaccine Stock for Covishield!!!!!We have not placed a single order with Sputnik or anyone else so far except a mere Rs. 8565 Crore on 160 million doses for 7.5 Crore people!!!!Why are we not spending money?

Why are we not buying but depending on AIDBusinessmenusinessmen are purchasing O2 concentrators from China at 15% discount and selling them at 70% premium because GOI is not purchasing any direct stock

What happened to the PM Cares money? Why only 8 out of 162 O2 plants were approved by 31–3–21?

Why were Junk Ventilators at Rs. 1.37 Lakhs ordered instead of Quality Ventilators which would have cost Rs.1.72 lakhs with Duty Waiver?????

So now i have problems believing the Financial News.

The first sign that a Nation has money is when it spends the money

China and CCP spent $867 Million on development of vaccines by 30–9–2020

US spent $12 Billion

Germany spent $ 4.17 Billion

We spent ZERO!!!!

On DateUs O!!!!

On DateUs has spent $ 3 Trillion on Covid related management and vaccine care

China has spent $ 243 Billion

Japan has spent $ 191 Billion

EU has spent $ 1.082 Trillion

We have actually spent $ 15.47 Billion !!!!! This including Charity and Donations from PM Cares. This includes Free Ration from State Governments.

Thats Rs. 843/- per Capita while China spent Rs. 12802/- per Capita

Based on the GDP difference - We should have spent Rs. 2133 per Capita or $43 Billion (China is 6 times bigger than us)

Only 309 out of 837 claims for Rs. 50 Lakh insurance have been honored - After 1 year!!!!!!!!!My conclusion is Modi has madr us an Anil Ambani or Mallya.

I dont believe our Forex Reserves are 500 Billion.

I dont believe our Import - Export Data

I dont believe our GST collection data

Why?Because we are not spending money!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And dont say Statue of Unity or Infra Projects. Most of that money (Except Unity) was allotted during ABVs time or MMSs time.

We need an RTI and sworn statements from RBI Governors in front of the CJI about How much money we really have

I believe its 40%-60% of what we claim.

There is no.other explanation for not spending
