it applies to any person , company , country etc who think they're entitled to a share in others hardwork without putting in zero efforts

you are wrong in applying that analogy to covid. You cant control the covid pandemic unless most of the people on the planet are vaccinated. SO its in the interest of the rich (as you said) to share it with the poor.

It will be a problem for any western country if the pandemic still goes on in any 3rd world country. They are not doing any favor or no one is feeling any entitlement by asking for free vaccines

but what will be the incentive for companies to make it cheaply? Ideally governments should take over the manufacturing of vaccines if they have to be made that cheaply

The only incentive for the companies is that govt is the buyer of large doses. no private player can compete with the govt. which means govt can negotiate the best price for the vaccine.. after allowing for a tiny profit for the vaccine maker.

vaccine makers have no way than to agree to the price.

lol. so who will these 'hardworking' people do business with when the virus still is roaming around the world?

the efforts are put in by scientists.. they are already awarded well.. Moderna, biontech guys are billionaires now.

who else should benefit, according to you? the salesmen of these vaccines? how hard is it to sell vaccines in a pandemic? lol. do you call that hardwork? hehe..

did people become hardworkers just by the mere fact of living in the US? weren't they provided the vaccine for free by their govt? why do you think they did it?

boringggg, kothaga emanna cheppu

see the vaccine makers already have most of the infrastructure. US govt did give research grants, but not to pfizer. They gave it to Moderna, and some other companies (for covovax). but pfizer's vaccine receieved german govt money for research.. not US.

these little companies are worth multi billion dollars now. The incentive always exists to make the vaccines at the lowest cost. That's how market works. The question is what price they should be sold.. and the govt can simply bully the makers to sell at a price that is fair to both parties

this happens in free market all the time. like for eg. Apple pennypinches at every stage of production of iPhone, even setting profit margins to their suppliers.

we are talking about pfizer and moderna vaccines, when Indian govt refuses to share its own home grown vaccine.

while a pandemic is raging on.

covaxin actually costs twice that of covishield. and Indian govt is planning on recouping all of that by allocating 35000cr for vaccine distribution, as a loan to states. haha...

the policy is so sick, I can't even laugh.

Indian govt bungled big time by not ramping up production and promising to buy all vaccines (other than the ones for export).

it did 50% to states+private bs. and then set aside 35000cr for it as loans to states for that purchase.

that is when the prices for these vaccines are the highest in the world. States have understood that it is better to source cheaper vaccines from outside. even SII one is being sold cheaper outside India. all this is a joke.

but we shouldn't say anything against the govt, according to some.
