It's not about FBI is free or not. Its about technicality, Sunil abducted his wife against her will and took her to Texas - this is the part where the case landed into FBI hands since its technically is an interstate kidnapping.

Coming from India where lot of things are taken for granted, US laws aren’t pretty obvious for most ppl until they themselves land into trouble or someone close ends up in trouble.

I did not google about the cases u mentioned in this thread.

from the court documents u have posted, None of these cases ever had any info that FBI handled the cases.

may be considering the notorious mind of that Grag guy it might have be handled by FBI since he threatened magistrates and investigating officers.

but general DV cases would not be handled by FBI i guess

As some one said above, when it's interstate kidnapping, FBI is involved to rule out woman trafficking etc.. They belong to 2 states ,caught in 3rd state committing a crime.
