You can't , stop trying to change People who are fixed in their beliefs .  Especially old people are beyond any hope of change

They will still hate it even if they find it enjoyable .

you dont travel save a lot .. put 30 % down on home and stabilize financially

You travel every tom and dick place without a clue ... put 5 % down and pay life long interest and never stabilize financially

Or another scenario you already make  enough money to own  a house and investment plan . 

You can travel on your free time without much thought about costs

There is nothing call enough money..as if you earning 80k/120k/160k/200k you will go for 300k/600k/900k/1200K home accordingly.

my 2c. you might have had some childhood some education job etc..after a while you need to think and decide whats the purpose of you in this world..so many travel to discover that...you see tonnes of ppl doing tonnes of things with passion and earning more and living better than you. Then you need to sit and think what am I good at and what should I do rest of my life like enterprenuership or re discover your hidden talent..Thats where travel helps

If you just experience all and just come back monday to do 9-5 job its just utter waste of time and money

Travelling can be a pleasure trip. I think OP meant to convince his family members about pleasure trips. 

Pleasure trips are not waste of time and money in my opinion.
