First of all don't listen to idiots who say diesel has reliability issues , the engine in sonet is the upgraded one from old hyundai creta 1.6 . They are known to do 300000 km comfortably with regular oil changes , no petrol engine does that in india .

Diesel will also have higher resale value simply because it will last longer , just check the resale prices of 5  year old hyundai creta diesel model vs petrol one .

The only reason you get petrol is cheaper upfront cost , better low and high end performance and slightly less engine noise

If you don't care about driving experience , I would always go for the kia diesel here .

We bought a kia seltos diesel model with the same engine as sonet  .

Besides the 1.0 lt turbo engines of hyundai arnt even good.

Kia sonet lo both automatic petrols aren't so great , one is a DCT which has reliability issues and the other one is an iMT which is probably one of the worst transmissions i've seen yet ...

The diesel variant on the other hand is a torque converter which is one of the best diesel engines in the world right now ..

kallu mooskuni u can go for a diesel engine , i've personally driven it and its very refined and smooth

Diesel engines have advanced quiet a bit now a days...

One thing opt for Petrol if you travel by car bit sparingly, else if you are looking for regular travel can opt for diesel vehicles..

Comparatively there will be bit more maintenance cost for diesel cars but that could be negated with better milage..

Also wrong , that is a myth of the older days . there is no extra maintenance needed on diesel nowadays , especially the hyundai 1.5 engine parts are equal or less than that of their turbo petrol counterparts.

Do agree the gap has reduced but still for diesel vehicles its bit higher comparitively AFAIK...
