In India there is no difference between good film maker vs successful film maker.

Many I know started appreciating world cinema , especially Malayalam movies.  I think I watched all of them in last one year. Actors act with eyes and subtle expressions, stories have some social impact , cinematography / editing and story telling are always pushing boundaries... They are not boring and with enough entertainment to keep audience engaged... Most people think Good cinema is boring... That's case with many serous movie makers...humor , visual pleasure has to be part of parcel...

BTW, watch pachchis on prime... Good attempt..missed out on couple of places

makes no ssense. Rajamouli is a very bad filmmaker. why shouldn't we make that distinction?

rajamouli is really really bad. Baahubali is ugly. forget the story, acting etc.

his vision for his movie itself is inconsistent. patch work of a 100 different ideas he picked from elsewhere without any sort of grounding on what kind of era/movie he wants to show.

I was really pissed off when I watched baahubali. assault on all my senses.

no idea. wasn't there a controversy that narasimha reddy was a landlord who waged a war against british jjust to demand them to pay 2rs more for their use of his land or something.

It was said around that time that he was not a freedom fighter, and that movie's trying to make someone a hero by inventing history. I don't know if its true though.

Maybe but in the movie the various "polegars" come together , unite and fight. No mega heroism - no "kshatriya" hero and nonsense.

I love telugu cinema - not just the latest one. I mean its almost 100 year history. Its perhaps the greatest artistic achievement of telugu people, the face of telugu culture to world, the source of entertainment from pamarudu to pandithudu.

I think up to 90s the film industry was better in the sense there is no heroism. If you look at the past movies of NTR, ANR, Harnath, Kantha rao - the hero is just a major character not a star. And most these heroes had no problem playing with other heroes. NTR and Kantha rao acted like equals in some movies. NTR, ANR did many movies. A movie like pathala bhairavi is still immensely enjoyable - everyone form sathyanarana to ntr to nagayya to anr were all characters in their own way - no stars or heroism.

I think this stardom started in 90s with Balayaa, chiranjeevi, nagarjuna, and venkatesh generation. While it may have merits i dont really like it.

lol. I haven't seen fast and furious, but pretty sure its not 'worse' than a Rajamouli film.

the basic point is, Rajamouli even fails at the thing he sets out to do, and makes the same films over and over with just different made up settings and actors.

people who like Rajamouli films are useless people.. some of them may have a decent IQ, but in general pretty dumb dumbs. hehe.

Nolan is another overrated filmmaker. but he's getting better with every film. Dunkirk his best. most his movies are unwatchable cringe.

even bad malayalam movies have a consistent visual style, that the best rajamouli's filims lack.

Its not about my perspective. I'm asking what this Rajamouli is shooting for 2-3yrs, and spending a bomb on vfx only for the movies to appear so ugly on the screen.

adhi naa IQ kaadhu. you just picked a random throwaway comment I made in jest in a desperate bid to prove that people who love Rajamouli movies don't have low IQ :giggle:

my main point which I made again and again is, Rajamouli's movies are terribly ugly and I can't believe people like them.

if you wanna obsess about how you are smarter than I'm. you are welcome. I don't give a flying fcuk about it :)
