If you gave up citizenship then you cannot buy agriculture land only acquire through hereditary

I heard even if you are citizen: NRIs cannot buy agricultural land in India except with the prior permission of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

i know for sure the new rule brought by BJP government will require you to report if you are selling personal property and living abroad but buying I don’t think so as it is more of regulation to control flow of money from India to overseas

No bro it was an existing rule much before. Technically if you buy any agricultural land or farm house while being non resident then it’s illegal and will be in trouble

No such rule that NRIs can't buy. If you are a US Citizen with OCI then register the property on your father's name or mother's name and then later they can transfer it to your name as a gift deed. My cousin recently did this..
