The large heartedness of telugu (especially andhra) people

Tamil nadu has almost 60% more people than andhra and 70% more GDP than andhra but it state budget is only around 30% more than andhra.  Maha has 140% of andhra population, 170% of andhra GDP but its budget is only 120% more.

How come andhra spends so much more per capita even though its GDP is actually lesser per capita ? simple it taxes more and spends more on welfare. No state has the kind of benefits andhra and to some extent TG has - amma vodi, universal pension, SC/ST/OBC residential schools etc etc.

The wealthy in andhra like to spend - lavish marriages, parties , drinks - this leads to higher state tax revenues. And the state spends liberally on the poor.

Does this include grants from Center too? because I'm sure Andhra gets oversized grants from the center. Its own state revenue is quite low.

anyway TN's own revenues have been falling (as a percent of its total budget) since the introduction of GST. Because GST favours states that have a huge service sector component like TG, and Karnataka.

anyway, all this is moot. you won't even move to Andhra to live. I don't understand what's the point behind this.

But I agree, Telugu people are way more easygoing in general. I wouldn't call that large heartedness.

you are just clutching at straws with incomplete data to reinforce your own biases. lol.

I would say Andhra people are way more easygoing, but very self centered pricks.

I know because 90% of my friends in college were Telugu speaking. And the batch I ended up with was 100% Telangana.. from Warangal.

I didn't even know what Telangana was at that time. They were just super nice and kind than the arrogant pricks from kakinada, Vizag, vijayawada etc.

Only time my college friends made fun of my very bad Telugu was when I refered to myself as 'letha', as in lightweight. That too, it was just one guy.

Now I don't know where they are, and what they are doing. I moved on..

It wasn't until 2010 that I realised that there was a region called Telangana, and that all my favourite Telugu speaking people were from there.

Because Andhra/ Telangana budget  is fake / inflated and isn't grounded in reality .

Have you Noticed that Andhra has 40 to 60 k crores as grants from central government every year ?   that hasn't come even once last seven years .

Tamil nadu has about the same percentage  of welfare spending as Andhra and taxes are about the same as well .

I am talking about real numbers not the fake, inflated stuff presented in budgets

I know Andhra has among the highest grants from Center in the south. TG, not so.

The  grants are a paltry 3 to 5 k crores per year , not much in the grand scheme of things. They won't even pay one month salary for govt employees

I am speaking of what is mentioned in the budget estimate.

I haven't read the full budget document ever to calculate how much was actually spent and from where.

also its very hard to know how much was actually spent and collected just by looking at the budget. max you can know how much govt spent 2-3yrs ago.

The budget is just an illusion , not grounded in reality.

50% of the expenditure goes towards salaries / pensions .  Welfare gets around 30-40% .  Capital expenditure is rest , most ly used for maintenance. This story is the same since 2014

Tamil nadu only spends 35% on salaries/pensions , 40% on welfare. Tamilnadu state govt employees have less pay than Andhra simply because larger public gets priority over state employee
