sri_india Posted June 23, 2021 Report Share Posted June 23, 2021 BARCELONA, June 23 (Reuters) - Antivirus creator John McAfee, 75, was found dead in his prison cell in Barcelona after the Spanish high court had authorised his extradition to the U.S., the Catalan justice department said, confirming an earlier report from El Mundo newspaper. Everything points it could be a death by suicide, the department said in a statement. The high court had agreed to extradite him back to the U.S. where he faces tax evasion charges. Eccentric antivirus software company founder John McAfee was found dead in a Spanish jail Wednesday, shortly after Spain’s National Court approved his extradition to the United States to face criminal tax evasion charges. McAfee was arrested last October at the international airport in Barcelona on those charges, which are pending in federal court in Tennessee. He had been held in jail in Spain since then.
