Telangana Ministers, Mind Your Language!

For the last few days, Telangana ministers have been making serious comments against Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy over the construction of Rayalaseema lift irrigation scheme.

They have not even spared Jagan’s father and former chief minister of combined Andhra Pradesh late Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy, alleging that the latter had done a lot of injustice to Telangana by expanding Pothireddypadu head regulator.

The other day, Telangana minister for roads and buildings Vemula Prashant Reddy made strong comments against Jagan and YSR.

He alleged that while YSR had plundered Krishna river waters with Pothireddypadu, Jagan was resorting to further loot by taking up Rayalaseema lift scheme.

On Friday, it was the turn of tourism minister V Srinivas Goud to attack Jagan and YSR.

“What should we call YSR if not a thief, as he had stolen Telangana water resources? Now, Jagan is also resorting to plundering of Telangana rights. We thought Jagan will not repeat the mistakes of his father, but he turned out to be a bigger thief,” he said.

Goud went a step ahead and described YSR as “Nara roopa rakshasudu,” (demon in the disguise of a human being).

“YSR tried to crush the Telangana movement. He had foisted false cases against Telangana activists and sent them to jails. He was responsible for the death of P Janardhan Reddy,” the minister alleged.

The Andhra ministers have been maintaining a lot of restraint on the comments made by their Telangana counterparts, though a couple of ministers raised objections to the language used by the former.

“The tone and tenor of the Telangana ministers in attacking Jagan and YSR is highly objectionable and uncalled for. The language used by Goud against YSR was very bad. Do they think they will become heroes by abusing YSR in a filthy language,” Andhra agriculture minister K Kanna Babu said.

He said the Telangana ministers were triggering river water disputes only for the sake of politics in Telangana.

“Even during the Telangana movement, these TRS leaders used to make such provocative statements to gain political mileage,” the AP minister said.

Stating that he would leave such comments to the wisdom of the Telangana ministers, Kanna Babu said abusing Jagan or YSR would not fetch them any political mileage in the state.
