Anta Assamey
The water wars between Telugu states have been hitting the headlines more often than before. The ongoing Krishna and Godavari water wars took a new turn with the Telangana cabinet approving the construction of multiple projects over the Krishna river, to counter AP’s alleged illegal projects. While the leaders from both the states speak to defend their side, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu spoke on it for the first time. Chandrababu came down heavily on AP CM Jagan for not resolving the water conflict which comes up time and again. Chandrababu Naidu questioned why AP CM Jagan and Telangana CM KCR do not plan to meet to discuss resolving the water wars, while they met in 2019 just to defeat him in the elections. Naidu questions why Jagan is not taking the responsibility of talking to the Telangana government when the latter of releasing the water in Pulichintala to generate electricity. Chandrababu called YS Jagan an ‘incapable CM’ for wasting the water into the sea. Chandrababu reminds that he resolved the water conflicts during his tenure by holding talks with KCR. Chandrababu further says if he is the CM now, he would have called KCR for discussions regarding the same without any inhibitions and ego. The former CM emphasizes that the state can provide water to every acre in the state by protecting the state’s rights at the same time. Chandrababu Naidu criticized CM Jagan heavily during his visit to Krishna district, saying his fight for justice of Polavaram submerge victims, continues. He said the Jagan’s government is reluctant on state’s development with the Polavaram project. Naidu further denounced Jagan’s government that the latter has halted the development in Rayalaseema. He warned that the government cannot rule with police’ support for a long time. Chandrababu said he is not afraid of any cases filed against him by the government.
