My View … initially hero’s conflict is between his love for boxing and listening to his mother ..

daddy antadu kada - “ you found a path bugger … go ahead … don’t listen to the old lady “

later in the movie - his conflict is with himself - addiction and his love for boxing

Hmmm... The films unorthodox commercial visual and narrative style comes off as flat for me.

The period element was distracting to me too. Other than Royapuram clock tower, they got the entire area wrong. I don't recall a single home like the one where the coach lived in, from my recollection of the early 90s. The accent part was okay though.

Overall I loved the movie. But I was expecting a masterpiece given there was universal acclaim for this.

There was so much potential, and it wasted on a boring story of a boring man. Even bungling the simple fact that sarpatta was the only club that was inclusive of caste and class, the rest being mostly dens of caste.

I think Ranjith made this movie in a hurry. Or I overestimated his movie making skills. Or I got too old to enjoy movies

Dude, it's Madras of the 1970s that you are showing. Not its peripheral areas, like even Guindy.

How can you show that people lived in village styled houses in vyasarpadi at that time?
