Will the SF Bay Area be a ghost town in 10 years?

Yes, I’m sure it will become a ghost town. Everyone here is selling their two million dollar houses ASAP and flocking for the nearest state line. Never mind that there are tens of thousands of jobs here that pay $250,000 a year, and hundreds of thousands of jobs here paying six figures.

Apple just wasted billions of dollars expanding their office space here, including the Park building:

Apple HQ, one of the world’s largest office buildings, in Cupertino CA holds up to 12,000 employees.

Apple has 25,000 employees in the Bay Area.

Google is run by a bunch of fools; they’ve been hiring like crazy in the Bay Area and spending billions to expand their office space around Silicon Valley.

Googleplex, Google HQ in Mountain View.

Google has over 60 buildings and some 23,000 employees in the Bay Area, and they just acquired a huge tract in downtown San Jose to build their new Diridon campus. Google Diridon alone will have 7 million square feet of office space for up to 25,000 employees, plus several thousand houses and half a million square feet of retail space.

Salesforce recently opened the new Salesforce Tower, which is the tallest building in San Francisco.

Yes, Facebook, NVidia and many other tech companies have been aggressively expanding here.

But all that will now screech to a halt and companies and employees will all be dumping their expensive real estate in fire sales and racing for Texas and Arizona. This abrupt 180 is undoubtedly due to some story on Fox News that says the Bay Area will soon be wasteland. Fox has to be right.

Very soon you’ll also see announcements that Wells Fargo, Visa, PayPal and Chevron are packing up and moving out. It’s not clear how they’ll get all their employees to move. They’ll probably load everyone onto buses and take them to Las Vegas or Austin, because why not? Fox would never lie about something like that.

Bay area is still the premier destination for tech jobs , Texas hype is way overblown.

There’s a difference between sarcasm and wit. Sarcasm denigrates, wit elevates. This answer is wit.

Sarcastic wit. Or witty sarcasm.
