by saying there are too many indians in an area, he is implying he thinks it's not ok to have that number of indians in that area, which is the definition of prejudice.

And prejudice against a certain race is the definition of xenophobia.

Bokkem kaadu, gadida guddu logic la undi vayya.

By saying there are too many Indians in an area, he's actually saying the truth. Compared to most places in the Bay Area, Fremont has a higher concentration of Indians so it's his observation which is 100% true. He never implied anything, it's you that are implying that he "might" have meant that it's not okay with him having so many Indians in Fremont.

So no where did he project any kind of xenophobia, neeku ride ivvanu nuvvu desi gadivi ani dobbeyamante then you could have claimed Xenophobia. Btw, Indians in the US are on average multiple times more racist in the same vein towards other races esp African Americans, Hispanics etc. So mana G manam kadukkodam better. Look at that asswipe @jambalhaatrajas posts here, that gives you a good clue. Of course, most desis I know in person aren't even close to the gutter dweller he is when it comes to some of his statements anuko.

To be honest, even if he meant to say that there are too many Indians taking jobs of white men, I don't think that's being racist since there is a lot of truth to it.

too many indians

Folks here use “too many” for negative statements, “a lot of” would have been appropriate in this context. I agree with ts’s view here.

I think my logic is sound vaa.. I agree that there is a higher concentration of Indians in Fremont. But why is a certain number of Indians too many is the real kochen here. When someone says "too many of something", it means they think there should be a smaller number of that thing, and when someone says that about a race of people that's definitely messed up. Imagine tella people here saying the number of blacks in the US is too many. Would you still say it's an acceptable statement to make?

@tennisluvrredux This is exactly what I mean. "Too many" is used in a negative way here. "many" or "a lot of" is the right thing to use if his intention was to just say there are a lot of Indians (which I don't think was his intention because he specifically said "too many").

I think it depends on the context, and you can usually judge if someone's saying that just as a compliment or being sarcastic/satirical about this.

Since I am not there when this incident happened, I would leave it upto you bro. Nuvvela anukunte alane
