Kara Bell demanded that an Austin school board remove the book Out of Darkness by Ashley Hope Perez from its middle school shelves due to its descriptions of **** sex at a Lake Travis Independent School District board meeting on Wednesday. She read some of the descriptions of **** sex in the book at the meeting and said she does not want her children to learn about **** sex in middle school. She said she would rather have the school district 'focus on education and not public health.' The next day, the district removed the book from its libraries, and announced that its contents are under review.
