but in the modern democratic world, language is indeed a great unifier. I don't deny it. But instead of working with some kind of consensus, we are claiming land for our language and insisting that political union is not only necessary but also imperative for our survival as a culture.

this kind of argumentation is simply irritating. Why can't we celebrate our common language/culture outside of politics, and only unite if there's a decent cause to unite? and consensus around the cause too.

every cousin of mine (in their early 20s) in Hyd used to talk like Telugodura, but they've moved past it within a couple years.
