Arranged marriage kastaluuu to my friend

Guy will be a hero for his wife if he steps up and takes the side of the girls family and honor their initial word. Any parent can't split every rupee into half for both kids. Some kid may need more for education, health, settling down or marriage or some unfortunate events later on.  Probably we can't too how much ever we try. Guys should learn to step up in cases like this, it is a matter of few lakhs vs lifelong grudges.

Will the bride be okay if he loses job tommorow? I wonder if altruism is really appreciated only when its convinient for other party.

 He should have a problem if he doesn't get his 50 lakhs.  If arranged marriage is a signed contract, he is going back on the terms. If he loses job, depends on how they take and if they can be convinced it is a temporary thing. Ours was a love arranged marriage, in-laws did all the negotiation, and at the end even for who pays for flight tickets. I put my foot down saying to my husband if he can't pay, then I will work for few months and pay myself and come. To which he finally talked to his parents and took care. Biggest joke I felt was when my fil said you are like my daughter now. After all that negotiations, dil very well knows what she means. Saving grace was husband did stand up against silly demands.
