It’s crazy how life works sometimes. I get to work with my mom, at the same hospital in the same department. She has been a janitor here for 18 years. She raised a Latina physician in the making! Thank you ama, I am so proud to be your daughter!

That is because of the cost of higher education in US… many people cannot afford it.. In Europe, if you are capable, you get education pretty much free..

Wrong, US lo it's takes about ~2.5 generations to go from bottom 10 to top 10. India lo ~5 generations. China lo ~7 generations.

Only Italy, United Kingdom fare worse on intergenerational mobility than the US. that the US is more upwardly mobile than Europe is a long dismissed myth by now.

Income elasticity here refers to how much percentage of income advantages of the father is passed on to the kid.
