Therefore there is a need for affirmative action / reservation, end of discussion. Subverting it, calling it vote bank issue has become fashionable for armchair experts!!

Affirmative action is implemented everywhere in the United States. In college admissions, in graduate school admissions, for getting jobs, for getting grants and fundings after getting a job, for getting contracts from the Government. Everywhere, if you're a minority, you're more likely to get all of those because of affirmative action. It's not just India.

Zero replies for a simple question - if reservations are solution why there are no reservations for black people ? They were oppressed for generations... Heck, they don't even ask for it... because even they know that's a backward step... 

Help them to achieve level playing field and let them compete...not give them freebies...

No MS seat for #8 rank but for a 100000th rank who barely passed MBBS !!!! go and convince one sane person outside of India ../ over and out

If you're black, Latino, women, native American, you are more likely to get into college, more likely to get into graduate school, more likely to get a job, more likely to get a promotion, more likely to get Government contracts, more likely to get a general government job.

exactly generational discrimination is passed down and it has been observed that even today african-american children carry the PTSD like symptoms that has its roots in the american slavery. One has to only research the psychological generational trauma on SC/ST families to draw parallels.

Biggest joke of the century this is.  

Do you have any family work for NASA, or did you ever visit NASA? Most people are minorites on purpose, especially if you're a federal employee. It is a blanket reservation, period. If you're brown or black you get into the 90 percentile and qualify for an interview. If you're a white man, you need to have a PhD to be in the same position as a black man with a bachelor's degree to qualify for an interview. Same thing with federal contracts given by NASA. Federal contracts are given out to minority businesses on purpose even if they quote a higher budget (this would never happen in India). 

Prestigious universities on purpose hire minorities over white men, if you're on admissions committee, you will realize this.
