Abbreviations in telugu sound almost as long the full word itself 

Just like how DMK / admk is not spelled in tamil

DMK is routinely addressed as thee mu ka... and ADMK as aa thee mu ka.... when written in Tamil the abbreviations sound like that.. not like DMK

That's what I said only tamil channels use that abbreviation . Everyone in Chennai uses DMK as far as I know
