Opinion: Are They Teachers Or Road Side Illiterates?

Teaching is a noble profession. Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan is the icon of teaching community, who maintained his profession, his life and his speech with dignity.

But today's teachers seem to be projecting completely opposite.

The real character comes out when someone is let to speak out. The present clash of Teachers Union with the government of Andhra Pradesh over the salaries and out sourcing issues exposed the quality of teachers in our society.

A teacher sings a parody to 'oo antava CM..' protesting the government. Another teacher cursed in road side language that the CM will die of Coronavirus for messing up with them.

Are these the teachers who teach the students the values? It is a shame of our society to see such riff raffs as the teachers in schools.

The teachers are surprisingly seen with no dignity, no decorum and no balance of speech.

There is a way to protest for everything in a democratic way. The Satyagraha conceptualized by Mahatma Gandhi is confined today only to the History books. The teachers who teach that subject to their students are not even following the same when it comes to their turn.

Protesting is not wrong, rather it is a 'right'. But the approach, language and lampooning acts of some teachers speak less about teachers' community on a whole.

Now coming to the other facts, almost all the fields suffered a lot due to Corona pandemic. But the teachers were given full salaries by the government.

Despite that, demanding for a higher salary when they work for only 10 months in a year and that too for a few hours everyday is nothing but the heights of greed.

The contribution of this kind of teachers in the present day society is abysmal and moreover detrimental to the future of students. why should these teachers be paid at all? It is better to suspend these greedy worth-for-nothing teachers and allocate the jobs for the deserving.

Well, people may question if the same thing can be applied to present day politicians as well. Yes, pretty much. The opportunity is given during every election. A politician may lose his job if the people revolt with their voting. But the so called government teachers are preying on the public money till they turn 60 year old.

It is time for the government to take strict action against all the teachers with a mass inspection on the quality of their work.
