You do know Chennai airport is govt run and one of the worst major airports of india 

There was a huge oppurtunity for andhra to capture air traffic from  Chennai , sricity industries and Nellore by building an airport closer to Chennai around sullurupeta  

If Chennai were to build a new airport it would 60-70 km to either south or west , so it would be far too distant to northern parts of Chennai 

The proposed location in dagadarthi is just trash . It can only cater to Nellore and krishnapatnam cluster

Fishing Harbours will generate a lot of jobs , lakhs of  Andhra people work in  kerala , Gujarat, tamil nadu fishing harbours.

what about the small matter of AAI not allowing to build airports in its vicinity?

also what about 'strategic importance' of sullurpeta, with ISRO close by?

you are expecting too much from the conservative shitheads in every sphere in India to do move the needle in an area that has no obvious benefit to them.

Every district has fishermen right ?  Fishing harbours are mostly to help them to store their boats , have proper storage , processing , road access 

Harbours are actually very cheap to maintain once built , airports require huge amount of staff and associated costs

harbour kaaka pothey, some industrial infrastructure, plus some connecting roads. least investment for the highest returns. lots of economic activity. tons of jobs.

AAI has no right to object , because they do not have any exclusive zone agreement for Tambaram  

ISRO issue is non-existent because it has a huge lake as a buffer , flight paths can be made to flow existing guidelines. A lot of flights flow around sullurupeta's skyline , so it's not a issue at all 

If the state govt is determined to do it , they can do it

Tamilnadu airports are one of the worst in the country . Their state govt doesn't care about aviation because most people don't use it and it's completely under central govt rules
