I hope no one comes close to Nadal's achievements, and we can move past this fcuking GOAT debates.

did you listen to Medvedev's interview post match.. He captured my sentiment perfectly. The narrative around Big 3 or whatever it is disgusting. I was a Federer fan until they started parading him as the GOAT. The conversation got worse and worse as two other joined these silly debates.

Suddenly its only about these 3 people in the entire ATP tour. Almost all conversations revolved around them. Players who were coming up being booed if they beat these players. Novak is an exception, since he has equal amount of haters. So I like Novak little bit more.

Medvedev didn't mention this, but said that he no longer carries any passion for tennis, and is just gonna play to provide for his family. He actually meant that the entire ecosystem is fcuked up, when people are cheering his double faults. Reminding him that he doesn't belong there. That, when he's easily the best hard court player in the world right now.

I watch tennis to see a variety of players showcase their skill. Sure Nadal is extremely skillful at what he does, but he is not singularly skillful enough to represent the entirety of tennis styles. Not him, not the Big 3 put together. They made tennis unwatchable for me in the last decade.

I hope they retire soon, and we get done with this bs GOAT debates for the next decade. But I don't doubt that the media will catch someone else and try to project him as the potential GOAT. Because that's the only way they can sell the game today. Promote someone as a superstar.

that's why I'm done with tennis.

Dheenney d leka mangalaaram annadanta .... Nadal or fedex young unnappudu kooda so called sampras, agassi ani undetollu, aa batch tharuvaatha chalamandhi vachaaru ..but these big 3 worked so hard to be in this position, successfull avvadam antey veellu age ayyaru kabatti young ki support ivvalanadam foolishness... This is one of the best statements I've heard about the state of the current game.

And I feel bad about at times cheering for this dominance to continue, oh well I atleast cheered for Wawrinka against Nadal at the AO when Nadal put up a loser attitude. The big 3 isn't bigger the sport itself but sadly, that's what ended up happening.

Tennis is losing popularity in most Western nations for a reason

If you understand how tennis players are promoted and funded, you'll understand what I'm saying.

As great as the Big 3 were, their continued success was a result of mixture of investment from their govt (in the millions) at the start of their career (include Murray too in this), and then the wealth gap between them and the rest of the tour, thanks to the continuous media circus about them being once in a century types of players.

This is going to continue. In most sports when a team was allowed to buy the best players to play for them, they end up winning all the time. For eg. Toronto Maple Leafs in NHL. And then the league decides to act on it, decides to make the tournament more competitive and caps the player salaries. Toronto didn't win a single stanley cup after that.

Tennis authorities are not even talking about the player's winning gap. The perverse media attention and subsequent money for the Big 3. They are not trying to limit out of court earnings of the Big 3. So its obvious they are going to allow the media to pick some other golden boy to spin their narrative around, once these Big 3 retire.

Interesting point about the Toronto team, I wasn't aware of that and honestly don't care about hockey but still it is an example that's applicable across any sport esp with a large audience watching it.

Tennis has become too commercial to let go of a concept of a GOAT esp when there's a 3 way battle and want to continue to milk this cow as much as they can. I think your guy Shapovalov might take that mantle, dude's got splunk for a Canadian. It was so cool to see that in the quarterfinals.

Yeah maa inti daggara park lo kooda they have put up pickleball courts.

Honestly though I understand where @Raven_Rayesis coming from. The dominance of the big 3 has effectively killed most people's interest in tennis and the way ATP goes out of the way to cater to them at the expense of other tennis players is nauseating.

It's not about tennis anymore it has become very political, I think Medvedev needs to toughen up and be a cold monster like how they stereotype Russians who are in reality some of the warmest people ever to be a multiple GS champion. He has the potential, he can learn to channel his inner Djokovic at times like these and say FU go the crowd if they boo him again in the future when he's playing the crowd favorite
