Jagan to act tough with agitating employees

YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, who has been maintaining utmost restraint in dealing with the agitating state government employees all these days, appears to have decided to act tough hereafter.

On Monday, the Jagan government served memos on several employees of the state treasury department, who refused to pass the salary bills of the state government staff as per the revised pay scales.

Only a section of employees attended the duties to pass the salary bills of the police, judicial officers and other important staff, but majority of the treasury employees did not turn up for duties on Sunday to pass the revised salary bills.

Angered at this, the government instructed the head of the treasury department to serve memos on the employees who defied the orders.

Similar action is being contemplated on the other employees who refuse to cooperate with the government ahead of the state budget session.

However, the employees are not relenting. With even the employees of the state medical and health department deciding to join the strike, the government is facing a tough task in the coming days.

State municipal administration minister Botsa Satyanarayana, who is also a member of the five-member committee to deal with the striking employees, also served a strong warning note to the agitating employees for making aggressive comments against the government.

“Keep your tongue under control. If you make any serious comments against the government, you will have to face serious repercussions. The leaders would have to take the responsibility for any serious action against the employees,” Botsa warned.
