I am at loss of words ... wonder how Amazon is not cracking down these things because AFAIK lot of people buy products solely based on the reviews and I am one of them

Yes. That's now illegal....big Amazon brands line aukey etc are banned. But they keep coming back with a different names. 

Now a days there are pool of veteran Amazon shoppers who "sell" their reviews - there is nothing amazon can do anything... They are all legitimate Amazon shoppers for years and their reviews are liked by thousands of other shoppers. Only catch is *some* of their reviews are sold out paid ones.
