BJP ki ankulmaga unde oka section (nen chala respect iche section ) mass leader yogi meeda tega negative rastunaru. As yogi fan i feel it is not good to hurt bjp prospects this way.  @Gaali_Gottam_Govinda@Vaampire@JustChilI_Mama @pakeer_saab @summer27 @gothamprince@karthik25 @huma@Mirage https://www.google.com/url?q=https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/blogs/voices/why-yogi-adityanaths-thakurvad-pales-in-front-of-brahmin-elitism.

Recently a video of journalist Pragya Mishra, recipient of eNBA award & a former journalist at Bharat Samachar, has been viral. In this video, Mishra complained about rampant ‘Thakurvad’ in UP. She claimed the Thakur community is discriminating against everyone even on roads, streets and public places. Mishra insists that the (the Kshatriya community is referred to as ‘Thakur’ in UP) Kshatriya community has evolved into a monster that is at the forefront of Dalit atrocities in UP. Previously, journalists like Priyanka Chaturvedi, Chitra Tripathi, Deepak Sharma and Brajesh Mishra, founder of Bharat Samachar TV, have complained about this alleged ‘Thakur terrorism’ since the encounter of gangster Vikas Dubey who shot 8 policemen in cold blood in Kanpur.

In order to perpetuate the so called ‘Thakurvad’ under chief minister Yogi Adityanath, often a list of government officials with ‘Singh’ as last names is circulated to corroborate the idea. Ironically in today’s times, ‘Singh’ as a last name is used by many castes including Jats, Goojars, Bhumihars, Kurmis after Rajputisation (a phenomenon of non-Rajputs appropriating Rajput customs or names) of different castes. For instance, Mumbai Police chief Param Bir Singh is a Goojar while IPS Lipi Singh of Bihar is a Kurmi. She became popular recently for taking action against MLA Anant Singh, who is a Bhumihar. Interestingly, the hue and cry in media is led by mainly Brahmin and Ahir journalists who target the Kshatriya community more than the UP CM himself. However, the larger picture is brushed under the carpet and it must be put before the country.

Seven out of nine members of the UP Higher Education Services Commission are Brahmins including Mr Krishna Kumar Sharma and Mr Harbans Dikshit. Others include Shashikant Pandey, Archana Tripathi, Rajni Tripathi, Vandana Tripathi and Shivji Malviya. Apart from this Director of UP Higher Education is Dr Amit Bhardwaj while the chairman of UP State council of Higher Education is Girish Chandra Tripathi.

Apart from this, the Chief Secretary of Secondary Education, Aradhana Shukla and Director Vinay Kumar Pandey are also Pandits. Dinesh Sharma is the Minister of Higher Education and Secondary Education of the state. The state’s higher and secondary education departments are heavily packed with the Brahmin community. Similarly, the chairman of UP Public Services Commission is Dr Pradeep Kumar Joshi. While Mukul Goel is the current UP police chief, the previous UP police chief Hitesh Chandra Awasthi was also a brahmin. He retired this June. The current chief secretary of Government of UP is Rajendra Kumari Tiwari while his predecessor was Anup Chandra Pandey, who is the acting Election Commissioner of India. As per a report published on The Hindu this September 2021, Brahmins dominate UP cabinet ministry with 11 ministers while Kshatriyas had seven ministers.

A similar statistics exists in the Ramjanmabhumi Trust, where twelve of the fifteen members are Brahmins. There are no Kshatriyas in the Trust although Lord Ram was a Raghuvanshi kshatriya. The same applies to the latest appointments made by the UP Government to the Shree Kashi Vishwanath Nyas Parishad. All four appointees – Brijmohan Ojha, Prof Nagendra Pandey, Prasad Joshi, Chandramauli Upadhyay are Brahmins.

It is an incontrovertible fact that the Brahmin community remains the principal force and the biggest decision makers in the Yogi government even if the Kshatriyas have also benefited.

Therefore, when Brahmin journalists target the Kshatriya community for their grievances against the Yogi government, it is both manipulative journalism and bad communal politics. It would be appropriate if they directly attack the UP CM and his government, instead of whipping up misplaced public passion to criminalize the Kshatriya community.

Post-independence, circulating a list of "Singh" last names has been a misleading act. ‘Singh’ has become as common a name as ‘Kumar’ due to rapid Rajputisation of most communities of North India.

Lastly, while Ambedkarite opposition to Brahminism targets Brahmin elites and their institutional monopoly, Mishra’s allegations target the Kshatriya (Thakur) commoners, who she accuses of terrorising the people of Uttar Pradesh. Such misconceptions are usually borne due to lack of basic knowledge and biased opinion backed by little or no factual data.

As for Yogi Adityanath, despite all the efforts to portray ‘Thakurvad’ in UP, his persona acts as a shield and guarantor of modern Brahminism. For the Kshatriyas, Yogi remains revered because of his position as Mahant of the Gorakhnath Peeth. However, his temporary political position as UP chief minister has actually become an albatross around the neck of Kshatriyas across the country.

No he is only the face . He is popular among public and most charismatic leader in india after modi now

Yogi is Baba, Mahant, or Gorakhnath. Akhilesh’s image is all about ‘change with continuity’

In some pockets of Uttar Pradesh, the soft influence of Yogi Adityanath travels independent of BJP presence and outreach.

28 January, 2022 08:42 am IST

Yogi Adityanath draws the capital of influence from the religious structure of our society. For some, he is ‘Baba’, for others, ‘Maharaj ji’ or ‘Mahanth ji’. But most call him ‘Yogi ji’. An old uneducated poor woman in Gorakhpur village calls him ‘Gorakhnath’. She does not know his real name. Like her, for many poor villagers in this area, Yogi is ‘Gorakhnath’.

The image of Guru Gorakhnath, founder of Nath Panth in pre-medieval era, is attached to the image of Yogi Adityanath. If you travel to the hamlets of the downtrodden communities in certain parts of Uttar Pradesh, you may observe that the UP CM carries a charismatic religious image and is held in high regard. These days, his image as a leader and a chief minister of the state is also being scrutinised.

Images and politics

The images of political leaders emerge based on the symbolic capital that they inherit and earn. In the Uttar Pradesh assembly election, images of four leaders are contesting with each other – Yogi Adityanath, Akhilesh Yadav, Mayawati and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

Yogi’s image is closely linked to that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During my visit to a UP village, where a discussion on centrally sponsored schemes such as the PM Awas Yojana and Ayushman Bharat was going on, an old man was giving all credit to ‘Yogi ji’. When I tried to correct him, he reacted sharply, saying “Yogi, Modi ekai(ek hi) ha (Modi, Yogi are the same)”.

Away from the media narrative that stresses on the contrast between the images of Yogi and Modi, for the common public, these two are working together. They strengthen each other by transferring their symbolic powers between them so that wherever Yogi’s image travels in the mind of the voter, it also carries the power of PM Modi, and vice versa.

Akhilesh Yadav has his own combination of symbolic capital that he received from Mulayam Singh Yadav’s image, along with his cultivation over the years in public life. He is also strengthening his image by deriving from the legacy of Ram Manohar Lohia. However, Mulayam’s image is now increasingly restricted to the backdrop and what is leading is Akhilesh’s own image of a young leader aspiring for change. His approach involves maintaining continuity while simultaneously showing change.

For Yogi, the task of projecting his image as a strong administrator is being anchored by the BJP — as someone who acted against mafias through his police and bulldozer, and also as a sensitive CM who controlled Covid and reached out to migrant labourours who were the hardest hit by a series of lockdowns. The idea is to project his Hindutva and development face together.

Yogi: Beyond BJP

The BJP cadre in Uttar Pradesh has used a dog-whistle to target the majority voters, by referring to mafias and criminals as ‘lungi-topi wale gundas’ who were powerful under previous governments but are now being tackled sternly by Yogi. Many in the state see the UP CM as a political symbol of Hindutva who also has the capacity to deliver development.

In some pockets of the state, the soft influence of Yogi Adityanath travels independent of party presence and outreach. During our study of a village of snake charmers in Bundelkhand region, people expressed a strong desire that the UP CM inaugurate their deity’s temple that was under construction. They said they didn’t want any support from the state government for their Taksh Baba temple and the mere presence of Yogi on the auspicious occasion would suffice.

Yogi-Modi eke hai (Yogi-Modi are one)” is the master key to understanding the influence of BJP in this election.
