More than luck it is competition from platforms like TikTok... Attention span of current generation has become so less that a Goldfish seems to have more than an average human of the current generation... So platforms like TikTok and YT shorts are becoming more connected with them.. Unless FB rises to the occasion it will be a difficult uprising.. Also the number of new users have gone down a lot and is hitting a saturation point

What I'm hearing is YT shorts is filling the gap when tictoc is not available and YT creators are transitioning or creating separate channels...

Instagram tried to do this and not much successful ...

Yep.

Tic tic is great for Sharing - no doubt. 

YT shorts is as addictive as tic-toc...and as easy to share...unless Google tried to screw it up 

WhatsApp allowed sharing of clips....people create video instead of sending links...now it's biting back FB for easily allowing that...

Ideally, WhatsApp should have blocked copy righted YouTube videos to be made as clips...they never did that. Especially shorts...even a viral short only gets few YouTube view count ...
