Despite the rulebook allowing girls to wear hijab to classes, a private college in Kundapur of Udupi district in Karnataka has barred entry to them over the issue. On February 4, the authorities at the Bhandarkars' Arts and Science College made the decision after protests from boys in the college who wore saffron shawls to classes.

Hijab was fine...Burqa veskon vastam ani annaru....which was not included because of security reasons.

the protest has nothing to do with any demand to wear burqa. there were already guidelines on what kind of hijab one can wear that was negotiated with the students. the issue is about sudden ban of hijab. not burka.
