That means you are just a passive listener with no inputs to add to the discussion… if you try to follow and add some value to the discussion, then you won’t feel sleepy.. 

If those meetings are just to give sermons (some people talk and talk and talk), then you may as well take a nap…

Yeah.. this is the issue with long status calls.. they can just ask you to send the status by email… or ping them on chat everyday in the morning… and discuss any open issues in the status call..

Ala email cheyyamandi adigithey manake bokka, They will ask statuses on everything in long run. Scrum is always best.
