the bugger is behaving unpredictably after wrongly betting that Ukraine will fold quickly.

He may start to attack civilians, which he has so far avoided.

Putin is clearly the aggressor here, but right now he's cornered with lessening options and a loosening grip in his power in Russia.

so supporting him, and convincing him to back down is better than provoking the fool even more.
