Election results show a long way to fix the nonsense in cowbelt states. But thanks to highly centralized indian set up they will also dictate how others should live. How long can this continue ?

BJP doesnt win that easily in Ap/TG/TN/KL/PJ/WB and even Mah. All are non-cow belt states.

They do well in cow belt and in tiny states where they can buy out power.

States BJP do well are all generally poor or unlivable (like gujarat)

I sorta agree that india needs more devolution of power and funds

But giving state govts more power is a recipe for disaster

Empower local bodies. Give mayors, panchayats  a lot more powers over finances ,law & order like the US and Chinese system

If you give power to states they will give to locals. They dont give to locals because they dont see delhi sharing with them.

Never happened anywhere in the world

Power is taken not given , without strong constitutional guarentees it's not possible

In 70 years the only cities with decent administrstive freedom are chandigarh and delhi. Because they have guarenteed freedom as union territories

Delhi is a state not a local body. chandigarh is a unique city shared by two states.

What do you mean never happened in world ? your view that everything in delhi is good and everything in local bodies are good but only state level is where everything is bad is super weird.  It comes from your caste feelings not reality.

States are part of the same system if they see delhi taking away power at will or sharing very little they will do the same to bodies they control.

Ippudu everyday communal issues like hijab, citizenship bill etc...and gujjus will become even more richer by looting banks and money laundering..no one will question them...south states will become more anti national along with Bengal and Punjab..mama country lo maname anti nationals avutham..just because we don't give vote to bjp.

Everytime there is a problem ..bjp will cry against common man as anti national..will call him Muslim first ...if not muslim they will call him sikular...

In all fairness Delhi is just a city state and arvind kejriwal is a glorified mayor. Decent one at that

Suppose if amaravathi had a strong local body , you don't need to contend with interference from outsiders like Jagan.

All those lakhs of crores of assets would be yours to control and the development would not stop no matter who is in center or state

Just like any other world class city

Amaravathi is meant to serve Telugu people - it is an andhra's city. Not meant to serve "locals".

You really think i am so corrupt and greedy that if you say something positive about amaravathi i will forget about principles of federalism?

A society must conduct based on principles - federalism means powers go to states and from states they go to local bodies. Not some random hacks of giving things directly to some fancy cities based on complex and weird fetishes against states.

There's no constitutional guarantee for local body power devolution in the US. Its the people who take it.

If Indians were that proactive with their politics, we wouldn't have to sit here and listen to utter losers who think BJP win is somehow good for them and their state.

Imagine a db full of AP/TG people who think BJP is their savior. such is the brain rot. its hopeless. these losers can't even reason their pov well, hiding behind childish taunts and incoherent bs.

how would you beging talking about devolution of powers in this set up? If the state gave power to local bodies, there's a danger that RSS will capture it.
