When do you think we would stop giving flunk about movie releases

The answer some would have you believe is to totally ignore they exist kinda like how Hollywood ignore daytime tv ( soap operas & such ). Tons could be said about how Hollywood does these things in such an unified, all-encompassing & thou-shall-not manner. Its almost like a boycott without being a boycott. You could make all the flyover-states-white-people filled soaps you want but we will totally ignore them like they never existed. They will all get the same Yellowstone treatment.

But its far more trickier in the case of our homegrown Indian movies. All of them are thoroughly bad - especially these absolute trash hero-fests meant to appeal to the gutter crowds. Even the lowliest of B movies made in the 'West' have some sense of meaningful put-togetherness. Less said the better about our movies. Nonetheless people find these formulaic cringe-fests entertaining, for the lack of an alternative. There's not much in the way of entertainment to watch out there that appeals to Indian sensibilities.

We are far from making honest movies. Some filmmakers will ignore the low-sloping forehead crowd that makes up the vast movie-going Indian audiences & take pains to show something dear to their heart whether or not anyone shows up. Others will do variety for the sake of variety to seem novel. However, unless we the silent, not-so-trifling minority say what we want in unvarnished & hogwash-free terms and more importantly, continue saying it consistently day in & day out, we wont even get the conversation started.
