If you need money to buy second house . Sell for sure.  If you are rich o rich, that's when the real problem is . There is an apartment  worth 20 lakhs on my wife's name back in india . It is rented . We don't want to trouble our old in laws for rent collection.  The tenants were always horrible . If you give them a pass for one month , it goes on for two,three and four months . So. We are planning to sell when we go to India.  You need to be the one with no sympathy to collect rent in india. Everyone wants to take advantage of you  in every possible way . Here in US, it is extremes . You can do background check spending some money to get a good tenant .if you are kakruthi , and give it to some dick and Harry, eviction laws can be in favor of tenants . Even after you evict., You may not be able to get the rent and damages back. You may end up spending more money on attorneys .

All of a sudden,  the commode may not be  working and you have to get in there with plunger ,cleaning  commode midnight .

Hiring a property manager is not a bad idea if you don't have time to do all this stuff.

I personally don't want that headache in my life.

Rent it out unless you have better ideas for investment.

You have 3 more years to decide if you want to sell and claim your primary home tax free gains.

Airbnb usually is not allowed by HOA, but if allowed, it is a good idea.

Risks ante ivi seppina baa… there are good cases as well…

friend rented his old house to a tella tenant 3 years bank …all good…he is collecting rent , paying mortgage for old house which is 800 $ less and using that amount to pay mortgage towards new house …

anni alane undavu baaa.those are some specific cases that went into risky cases...and % is less...but we should be aware of things that can go wrong
