nenu mestri ichindi vadutunna so naku full time vallu ichey health insurance lo anni details teliyavu to suggest. Telisina vallu please share your recommendations, questions in RED below

He has - total 4 plans to choose from .  He has a family of 4 (2 kids , husband & wife)

PPO (Aetna & United Healthcare)

HDHP+HSA (Aetna & United Healthcare)

based on initial details we figured PPO is better since regular visits to doctor is frequent with kids

choosing Aetna PPO (no specific reason because both PPO have exactly same coverage and deductibles).

if you know any reason to change this above selection please share info

HRA (health care retirement account) is offered, has some limit of 2k something like that annually to save/get deducted from paycheck. But question is :

indulo enta amount save cheyyali, use kakapote what happens? copays ki use cheyocha-doctor visit copays or pharmacy meds ki use cheyocha?

Thanks in advance

If no health issues or pregnancy go with low premium and high deductible… kids yearly wellness visits will be covered 100%. If employer funds HRA, you need to use within that year and unused funds will expire.

Go for low premium policy and put difference money in HSA account which will accumulate and generate returns for life.

HRA amount can be used to pay for any eligible medical expenses including copayment, prescription and approved OTC medications, dental procedures etc within that year. Funds won’t accumulate and roll over to next year.

if you think there is health complication are there visits for doctor is more then opt for HSA and start putting your money there so you can use tax free.

if not go for Atena PPO 45 /30  PPO covers most of them... out of state and limits are also good.

If kids are young and going to daycare/school, take PPO atleast for first few years. HSA is good if they dont do lot of sick visits but it is very unpredictable with young kids

not much premium diff, per annum oka 300 diff undi  (high deductible is 300 less per annum compared to PPO). but sick visits are often with kids (kids in  daycare and schools ) ani telisindi.

keeping in mind sick visits ppo makes sense to me too. Not much idea abt HSA. above @JackSeal brother tolded a good point abt HSA  (will be there if not used) and HRA (lost or gone if not used in that year).

So keeping money in HRA (since going with PPO) for ant 6-8 visits seems reasonable..per annum..

Thanks

Thanks guys,
