Buy a duplex there live in one unit and rent out other unit .. buy at a good price and good locality so that one unit rent can pay most of your mortgage .. so that you can eventually build wealth as well.

Miami and Orlando are on Atlantic coast. More vulnerable. Tampa is comparatively better. But I hear what you are saying about hurricanes.
