The prestigious 75th Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to take place from May 17 to May 28, 2022. A few days ago, it was announced that Kamal Hassan, Vijay Sethupathi, and Fahad Faasil starrer Vikram’s trailer will be launched on May 18 at Cannes Film Festival.

And now, Madhavan’s much anticipated pan-Indian film Rocketry: Nambi The Effect will have its world premiere on May 19 at the Annual Cannes. For the film, Madhavan donned the director’s hat and is making India proud just like that.

Meanwhile, Satyajit Ray’s classic film Pratiwandi (it has been restored under the National Film Heritage Mission) and five other films will be shown at the Goes to Cannes Section. This year, Cannes drops a majority of focus on Indian films as there will be a one-hour conference, India Forum, where the country would be promoted as the Content Hub of the World.

On Tuesday, India was announced as the official Country of Honour at the Marche’ Du Films. The five films that India will showcase at the ‘Goes to Cannes Section’ are Baghjan (Assamese, Moran) by Jaicheng Zxai Dohutia, Bailadila (Hindi, Chhattisgarhi) by Shailendra Sahu, Ek Jagah Apni (Hindi) by Ektara Collective, Follower (Marathi, Kannada, Hindi) by Harshad Nalawade; and Shivamma (Kannada) by Jai Shankar.

Coming to Rocketry, the biographical drama is based on the life of Nambi Narayanan, a former rocket scientist at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), who was falsely charged with espionage and arrested in 1994. The film will also feature Shah Rukh Khan in a cameo role for Hindi and English versions, whereas Suriya will appear in the Tamil version. Rocketry: The Nambi Effect will release worldwide in theatres on July 1, 2022.
