I purchased a entry level (ds220+) and 2 6TB drives - total came around $500. Yet to configure but I plan to use to backup my mac and windows laptops along with photos. I think It will pay for itself in few years and want to get off paying $10 per month.

there are cheaper nas solutions like western digital (under $200) but they are not RAID meaning no backnup incase of failure

any other options?

Forget about 200gb…Even 2tb won’t be enough in 5 years! Photo sizes are becoming crazy bcuz of quality of pics
