Man Charged with Hate Crimes After Unprovoked Attack at Cupertino T-Mobile Store

A 61-year-old man has been charged with felony hate crimes after he attacked a female employee at a phone store in Cupertino, while screaming racial epithets at her and a co-worker.

When a sheriff’s deputy arrested him, Clifford Stewart threatened to kill the deputy and said to him: “All you piece of (expletive deleted) people sneak into this country, have a baby, and get a free apartment.”

Stewart will be arraigned today at 1:30 p.m. in Department 85 of the Palo Alto Courthouse on charges of assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, hate crimes, vandalism, and threat against a police officer. If convicted, he could face prison time.

“Hate crimes send an ugly and ignorant message to our community that certain people are not welcome here,” District Attorney Jeff Rosen said. “My response is that I will do everything in my power to hold criminal racists accountable in court. Hate is not welcome here.”

On the morning of June 1, Stewart removed a T-Mobile sign from the walkway leading to the store located on Stevens Creek Boulevard and threw it on the street. A 38-year-old Hispanic female victim – an employee of T-Mobile who witnessed the crime – and her co-worker, a 33-year-old Asian man, left the store to retrieve the sign. Stewart immediately reacted by yelling to both of them “(expletive) Chinese, you don’t belong here” and “stupid Mexicans.”  When the woman told Stewart she was going to call the police, Stewart kicked her in the stomach and punched her in the face so violently that she temporarily lost sight in her left eye. The victim was later transported to Stanford Hospital for treatment.  The extent of her injuries remains unknown at this time.

After the man intervened to defend his co-worker, Stewart fled to the nearby Cupertino Sports Center where he was arrested a short time later by sheriff’s deputies.  As he was being detained, Stewart verbally abused a deputy, calling him – among other things – “a Mexican (expletive.)”

At the time of this writing - almost two weeks since this incident - there is not even a SINGLE YOUTUBE VIDEO of this crime story by a single news outlet. Uncannily missing.

Is it because the LOCATION happens to be CUPERTINO, California - the Bay area home of APPLE INC ?

Do APPLE's PR people WIELD that much POWER & WORK SO CLOSELY with MEDIA& LAW ENFORCEMENT that they even get SMALL & TRIVIAL NEWS STORIES of this KIND EXPUNGED ?

Does Apple take such precautions at the time of their product launches so as to minimize distractions in search results & social media?

Mind you, even other hate crime stories from the same Bay Area are not 'media-blacked out' and have youtube videos available !

It's not the crime itself thats surprising but why would it go missing from youtube when every other similar crimes get full exposure & sometimes from even national outlets?

Is it a SHEER COINCIDENCE or is there more to it ?

Are these things even legal from a public safety perspective?

What if it were news concerning an ongoing-threat?

Would such media embargoes even be legal, even if not done by Apple but done by the city of Cupertino, at Apple's behest?

If my suspicions are right, its amazing what PR money buys you these days & more importantly how it goes unnoticed by the public.

Even among the cream of the crop, cash-rich Bay Area hoods some areas are more equal than others.

Again this is super trivial in the scheme of things but do bear in mind these are the things that you are in a capacity to notice as the general public.

Just imagine the dozens and dozens of other things you have no way of even familiarizing yourself with, that Apple or other big money from corporations ( OR individuals ) can get away with, purely in terms of PR. Its nothing short of a revelation. haha
