India has no electronic manufacturing clusters, no original design manufacturers, which means all chips designed will have to be again exported to Taiwan to feed their ODM companies. govt has a few chip initiatives going for it, including open sourcing of microarchitecture on riscv platform for microcontrollers via Shakti initiative. but it didn't take off. why are you asking me why it didn't take off.. ask the guy who started this thread. will top end chip makers set up manufacturing in India? Unless GoI literally bans chips produced outside India or levies a huge tariff for such chips, its not going to happen in the near future.
