Entry visa extension

My kid got entry visa for 1 year and he is in india since 4 months and has 8 months more but I heard that “continuous stay during each visit shall not exceed 180 days” .my family wants to stay for 4 more months. Can they stay or should they report in any office?

Not tourist visa or business visa, this is entry visa ,many people take this and go India
